Following the Ministry Skills Enhancement Model, the project director enhanced his development and communication of sermon applications related to biblical truths proclaimed within each sermon. The project focus was to ensure members and attendees of Oak Park Baptist Church, Algiers, Louisiana, understand the biblical text and how it applies to their walk with Christ. The project will: (1) research the subject of the sermon application; (2) develop a series of expository sermons applying the knowledge gathered; (3) preach a sermon series to those attending Oak Park Baptist Church, Algiers, Louisiana; and (4) evaluate the effectiveness of the sermon application by using a sermon evaluation team. The professional goals of this project were to increase the project director's knowledge of persecution and to increase his skill in developing a training resource. Brief Therapy models, Christian coaching techniques, and conflict resolution methodologies were researched, and a handbook was created. The first step will involve in-depth research of FBCH's trends in the past ten years and a demographic study of the make-up of both the church and the community. The research will be conducted using FBCH's last ten Annual Church Profile reports as well as recorded church history. the demographic study will be conducted using data from the United States Census Bureau's 2010 census. Next, a team of lay-leaders from FBCH (2020 Team) will be chosen by the project director for the threefold purpose of: (1) assisting the project director in evaluating the overall health of the church, (2) giving insight to the overall strategy of revitalization and (3) help in setting goals for the year 2020. The project director will meet with the 2020 Team for at least five sessions to accomplish this threefold purpose. Following the ministry skill enhancement model, the project director researched the field of missiology to identify multicultural issues that HRBC must address in its ministry setting. Second, he researched the field of topical preaching to learn how to communicate the multicultural issues at HRBC. Third, he developed a series of sermons to increase congregational awareness of the multicultural issues at HRBC.
