Students were evaluated by empirical observation, that involved the student, a peer, and adviser, and the discipler, and reproducibility in a second small group.  The students practiced relational skills and the spiritual disciplines of: daily prayer, Bible reading, time stewardship, group accountability and journal keeping.  The discipler served as a mentor and as a model for the disciplines. The author concluded that the elderly need: to be accepted by others; help in continuing their church development; opportunities to serve others; and to participate in program development. Architecture, schedules, and transportation plans must support the participation of the elderly in church life. He designed a questionnaire on the Likert Response model to measure commitment, fellowship, power, change, unity and values. This instrument was used as a pre-test and a post-test. His treatment involved a sermon series, a core group and a congregational retreat.  The data reveals that congregational unity increased during the implementation.
