Through comparing life-issues identified by church members with those identified by members of the community who called the police for help, the author exposed issues the preacher would be unaware of unless his or her contact goes beyond the church. The goal of the project is to provide pastors with a tithing seminar experience.  Data, collected from 71 pastors through a survey questionnaire, was analyzed and a seminar developed to stimulate an interest in tithing.  A four-week tithing program was implemented in a test local church by a pastor who attended a tithing seminar.  The pastors were equipped to assist believers and exposed to resources to help them lead to a tithing emphasis.
