Forty subjects, mean age 65.85 years, 20 left and 20 right hemisphere stroke-damaged were administered the Religious Inventory Questionnaire (RIQ, Harsch, 1980) to assess feelings about self, God and communicating with God; and the MMPI to assess psychological pathology.  The results indicated that the left hemisphere damaged patients were consistently more negative than right hemisphere damaged patients on all three levels of the RIQ, however, without pathological levels. Measurements were obtained by the use of a semantic differential pre-test and post-test given to the participants, and by the same tests given to a control group. Supportive data was furnished by a written subjective evaluation by the participant. The tapes focus on critical areas of pastoral care within the hospital: The Initial Call, The Presurgical Call, The Spiritual Needs of Patients, Family Members and Imminent Crises.  The tapes will be used for the orientation of pastors who volunteer to serve as night chaplains.  The pastors who volunteer are ordained by their respective denominations, but few of them have been clinically trained as chaplains.  The video tapes have been produced to help introduce the volunteer chaplains to the environment of the hospital in which they will be doing pastoral care.  The tapes endeavor to provide some of the pastoral skills which pastors may be lacking. The tapes teach sound pastoral theology and provide models of pastoral care which the volunteer pastors can discuss and evaluate.  The didactic material raises the issues faced by the patient.  It then seeks to address these issues through actual models of pastoral care. Church attendance growth patterns are compared with Sunday School attendance figures for 1975 through 1979.  The nine Sunday Schools are compared to 'Thirteen Criteria for Growth,' compiled by the writer from Sunday Schools throughout the United States demonstrating numerical growth in the seventies.  Month-long Sunday School emphasis in October 1978 and October 1979 are carefully described, the results of the emphases are compared, and projections for numerical growth for the next decade are made. 'Servant evangelism' is explored from a biblical perspective and advocated as a model for today's church.  Emphasis is given to North American Baptist Conference churches, the author's denomination. The approach taken includes: 1. Surveying 110 NAB churches; 2. Interviewing six pastors (4 NAB and 2 others); 3. Teaching a class on servant evangelism in the author's home church.  Class outlines for these ten sessions are included in an appendix. Additional chapters focus on biblical and theological perspectives; teaching and promoting servant evangelism in the church; evaluation and suggestions for further application.
