Members of the Mar Thoma church of South India failed to anticipate the serious and complex nature of this problem for their congregation in Dallas, Texas.  This project addressed this issue by building on a strong family structure and providing the resources of the Christian faith so that communication was enhanced between parents and children.  Parents and children thought family communication was facilitated when a shared praxis model was used. The project focused on immigrants who had become related to The International Church of the Metroplex (TICOM).  Separate practicum discussion groups of immigrants and Americans and a random survey indicated that even though they had had negative experiences, especially of rejection from white churches, the immigrants had kept their Christian faith intact.  The practicum also revealed that it was a lack of contact and interaction between the Americans and the Third World immigrants which was responsible for  their fear and mistrust of one another. It studies how the transition of culture affects the foundational images of the church and defines mission objectives for the congregation, such as reaching out to Hindu friends in Dallas.  The purpose has been fulfilled. The cohesion with the Episcopal Church creates a new identity for the church as a called out community.  The members have new mission objectives and have established methods for reaching out to Hindu friends in Dallas. The author's basic assumption concerning the Korean immigrant congregation was that it needed to emphasize a holistic ministry of three perspectives: worship, service, and fellowship, with teaching considered a part of fellowship.  The emphasis was to explore and test how the Bible and theology can be taught meaningfully to a Korean immigrant congregation.  The result was that the participants obtained more biblical knowledge, more theological understanding, and a higher consciousness for coping with and adapting to American culture while keeping their Korean identity.
