The thesis of the practicum is that the Cognitive model is an effective therapy orientation for utilization in ministry to couples. The seminars were conducted with a total of fourteen couples participating. Drawing upon a biblical perspective, this essay will examine implications for ministry to families experiencing separation and reunion. Hoping and waiting are biblical themes which suggest that separated families experience varying degrees of suffering. The author interviewed 50 adult Africans to ascertain needs that may be met by an adult Christian education program in the church. The information was used to outline a curriculum for ministry to and with adults.  A unit on family life and ministry to single parent families was tested in a church setting.  Interviews and observations of the participants in the ministry evidenced emotional healing, acceptance of the reality of the disruption of their family life, and adjustment to single parenting.
