The author uses informal interviews and surveys to show: a) 'For Better and Forever' is highly rated by those who use it; b) the key person to promote the program is the diocesan family life director; c) there are problems in educating local leaders about the value of parish based programs, and in providing the training for prospective sponsor couples. Data was obtained through classroom experiences, interviews with married couples, participation in weekend programs for engaged couples, marriage enrichment weekends, seminars for those entering second marriages, and working in the Office of Marriage and Family Ministry for the Diocese of Kalamazoo evaluating their present programs and developing structures for future programs. The student developed the model and utilized it within a Christian context in seven weekly sessions of two hours each, and then concluded with a twenty-four hour retreat at a nearby facility.
