The project was implemented at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, Dallas, TX, over the course of a ten-week period.  The project consisted of four primary phases which included: 1) a workshop on spiritual discipline, evangelism and faith-sharing; 2) six weeks of weekly class meetings; 3) church-wide days of consecration; and 4) revival worship services. This project has confirmed that a beginning level of understanding is possible in interfaith dialogue."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127098069352448,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:38:30.848Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:05:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:41:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e384eaac-dfa4-4238-91af-f876f1d32f1e","accessControl_ssim":["3c2646ba-5f01-4d3a-bf9c-772df33eae40"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Testing the use of lay sermon preparation groups for preaching lectionary texts that will relate to today's issues"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:05:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:38:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2a5c86d6-1dba-42e2-abc0-8961f8464016"],"hasLease_ssim":["2e6a2488-4ed1-401f-ad23-40e437948ba9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["William K McElvaney"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["J C Kelley"],"keyword_tesim":["Sermon preparation"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"],"subject_tesim":["Wilson, Paul Scott","Church work","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to test a method of relating the biblical text to the needs of the twentieth century. A small group of laity was recruited from the New Creation Christian Fellowship of San Antonio, Texas.  While the main purpose of the group was to examine rites of passage as developed through Scriptures, African traditions and the Boy Scouts, particular attention was given to ensure that the group experienced the mentoring process.  This practicum/project laid the foundation necessary to establish a group of mentors committed to teach, transmit, and train young people to become all they are capable of being.  Although a rite of passage was not celebrated, the mentors are constantly revising a cultural enrichment program designed to move young people towards that experience."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720566529196032,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:08:01.007Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":12,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Clara M Reed","hits":1,"label":"Clara M Reed"},{"value":"David M Copeland","hits":1,"label":"David M Copeland"},{"value":"George R Collina","hits":1,"label":"George R Collina"},{"value":"J C Kelley","hits":1,"label":"J C Kelley"},{"value":"John F Clifford","hits":1,"label":"John F Clifford"},{"value":"Kim-Hock P Lau","hits":1,"label":"Kim-Hock P Lau"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Church information and development services","hits":1,"label":"Church information and development services"},{"value":"Sermon preparation","hits":1,"label":"Sermon preparation"},{"value":"Youth-adult relationship","hits":1,"label":"Youth-adult relationship"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Church work","hits":2,"label":"Church work"},{"value":"African American youth","hits":1,"label":"African American youth"},{"value":"African Americans","hits":1,"label":"African Americans"},{"value":"Alcohol","hits":1,"label":"Alcohol"},{"value":"Alcoholism","hits":1,"label":"Alcoholism"},{"value":"Assimilation (Sociology)","hits":1,"label":"Assimilation (Sociology)"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"China","hits":1,"label":"China"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":12,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University","hits":12,"label":"Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":12,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1992","hits":12,"label":"1992"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Perkins School of Theology","hits":12,"label":"Perkins School of Theology"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":12,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Perkins School of Theology","hits":12,"label":"Perkins School of Theology"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":12,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":2,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":2,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":12,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":false}}}
