The hypothesis was that through the creation of a four-part workshop focusing on better understanding the challenges of starting a family, family of origin issues, solution focused theory, and the rewriting of marriage vows, the couples would better handle the transition stress. The hypothesis was proven correct. The report focuses on the dynamics of conflict management within the church, the biblical and theological rationale for mediation, and the development of a workshop.  The workshop helps church members become aware of the chraracteristics of conflict within the membership of the local church. The result of this project was a workshop that taught the Lord's Prayer as the scriptural basis, the prayer of the heart as the meditative process model, and journaling as an evaluative method.  The project was carried out in a prayer workshop in the First Baptist Church of Okeene, Oklahoma in February, 1984.  The workshop setting allowed a free interchange of ideas and dealt with the needs of the individual participants.
