Div. degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary from 1975-2000 (inclusive). The project had three main goals: 1) to determine the occupations of women graduates as of March 2002; 2) to determine how many graduates had left, or did not begin, professional ministry; 3) to understand and document the factors surrounding the graduates' decisions to leave or not begin ministry. Results indicated that 32% of subjects were not in active ministry. The author conducted a survey of Lutheran congregations in central Florida to test the theory that worship helps in the Sunday bulletin increases the comprehension of participants in the service. A survey questionnaire addressing the issue of pastoral presence was administered personally to 101 randomly chosen ministers of the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference.  Twenty-two of this group were given further opportunity of an oral response in an open interview.  Positive and negative trait patterns were identified by these pastors. From the earliest times, the church has struggled with its unity as a 'body'. The twentieth century church is rocked by the growing number of schisms in many congregations.  Dr. mcGahey has served one such congregation trying to pick up the pieces of a major division.  Through the use of personal interviews and questionnaires, mcGahey has tried to evaluate the situation of his congregation.  He has tried to build a sense of unity through a 150th anniversary celebration, to affirm the ministry of his people.  The result is a reawareness of our own need to see ourselves as God's people, not our own.
