This effort is framed by the Susquehanna Health Pastoral Care Department's transition from a center of clinical pastoral education to a hospital department comprised of professional chaplains ministering to the spiritual needs of patients, their families, and hospital staff. The project was carried out in the setting of a general hospital based alcoholic rehabilitation program.  A group, led by a hospital chaplain, was set up to help patients work steps three, four, and five which are the spiritual core steps of Alcoholics Anonymous' twelve steps.
