This effort is framed by the Susquehanna Health Pastoral Care Department's transition from a center of clinical pastoral education to a hospital department comprised of professional chaplains ministering to the spiritual needs of patients, their families, and hospital staff. This project describes the AIDS crisis as a test case for Christ's mandate to 'love one another as I have loved you.' Details include a month-long educational emphasis with adult and youth classes, a community-wide seminar, bulletin board display, sermon outline and preparations for formulating an AIDS policy statement. Because of the limitations of this project the specific areas covered are limited to the pastoral rites of healing.  In addition to the given rites, a survey of clergy, with episcopal guidance, was used to gather information.
