The curriculum emphasizes Martin Luther’s doctrine of vocation and the Priesthood of All Believers, and contemporary theological treatments of vocation by Miroslav Volf and Daryl Charles. It relates its findings to a church which exists in an individualistic society, but which is committed ethically to becoming more community oriented.  The project describes five phases of development: 1) the establishment of a congregational unemployment task force; 2) the involvement of the Butler Unemployment Task Force (BUTF); 3) the incorporation of human resource agencies; 4) action taken by the BUTF on behalf of unemployed and underemployed; 5) the incorporation of the wider church.
