The church’s current practice of evangelism is not cultivating disciples of Jesus. This paper aims to show that creating an intentional Christian community around the four practices in Acts 2:42 (apostle’s teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer) forms disciples of Jesus who bear witness to God’s new creation work in the world. This project explores the spiritual stories of apatheistic members of an internet community. From their stories, I offer an understanding of evangelism based in community. The church, gathered by the Holy Spirit, is a new household of intentional love and welcome for all whom God gathers to it. Three critical moments punctuate the account: the first was when growing appreciation of God's sovereignty provoked the reconception of the original title 'What is the Holy Spirit doing in the church?'; the second was when a large portion of the congregation mutinied; the third was when the working hypothesis, of a network of renewal,  failed. This project explores a small rural church's attempt to reach out to families in their area as they move from being a mission church to being a missional church.
