These committed church workers shared their experiences of serving God and neighbor while addressing a high level of extreme poverty, an oppressive government, the pandemic lockdown, natural disasters, and more. The author exhorts women to embrace their baptismal commitment to Christ's Church without compromising their differences and needs, at the same time refusing to be overlooked or discounted. At the 2004 conference co-sponsored by Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network, three questionnaires showed that over 75% of American women believe restoring the Order of Deaconess is important.
