The author served as spiritual director for nine individuals over ten weeks as they engaged practices of prayer, silence, the Jesus Prayer, inner purification and detachment, and awareness of and insight into their thoughts. Evaluative methods included surveys, field notes, and participants' journals. The paper considers the functions of Christian liturgy and the history of Christian attitudes toward science, then describes the development of a liturgy including the Lord's Supper, and its test use within seven congregations of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Surveys were taken with the goal of educating and persuading. The thesis was, God impacts and transforms Samaritan volunteers through face to face encounters with the migrant, 'Jesus.' The research included interviewing eight participants who gave 'testimonios' that documented evidence of transformation. The evidence parallels Mark's Gospel where Jesus called people to follow his 'Way' that ultimately transformed all areas of a person's life.
