Spiritual assessment occurred while providing pastoral care through emotional support and active listening. Considered along with the medical and psychological assessments, a holistic understanding and treatment of the patient was achieved. A greater sense of healing, harmony of body, mind and spirit was achieved. Positive existential meaning and dignity were evident and experienced by patients, families and even the members of the health care team."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130468468391936,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:05.111Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:01:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0f2778bd-3f7d-49e8-9a6f-8f4d19c7624d","accessControl_ssim":["f199850e-b057-4fde-9619-e08180b5db97"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Fanmi: partnership and relationship between a church and its parish day school"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:33:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1cb5d297-70a8-48c7-ae93-b06f666afec5"],"hasLease_ssim":["a1d61fed-1c6a-48d6-ac82-9b3f1632e87b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia"],"advisor_tesim":["Jane Williams"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Serena Evans Beeks"],"publisher_tesim":["Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Church schools","Service (Theology)","Missions--Social aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis looks at the effects of a shared outreach experience in building a stronger relationship between a church and its parish day school. Participants took a mission trip to visit a rural church school in Haiti and were then interviewed about their experience. Family systems theory and the theology of service and relationships informed the project and the interpretation of the outcomes. New, lasting interpersonal bonds among the travelers were evident, as were strengthened ties to the sister institutions. The project surveyed congregants' attitudes and experiences of priesthood. Responses were compared with 'official' church teaching in the context of a parish-wide conversation. Parishioners identified both tensions and possibilities for exploring lay and ordained ministries. The project illustrates how a stage 5 modal level of aspiration among church leaders can encourage a church to serve the needs of people as different developmental stages simultaneously. Church leaders who can reliably identify an individual's stage of faith, and who speak multiple 'languages of faith,' can adapt their ministries of discipleship, evangelism and pastoral care to effectively meet each individual's needs.
