It then traces some of the history of short term missions to the present.  A church-based study was conducted through a questionnaire sent to every EPC congregation.  The project also records information from interviews with leaders from there EPC congregations who seem to be doing short-term missions well. The dissertation will analyze various philosophies of ministry which lead to producing imbalanced disciples of Christ, study the First Epistle of John for Biblical principles of balanced discipleship, observe historical precedents from the Reformed tradition, critique some present day discipleship approaches, summarize a survey of church and parachurch ministry leaders and finally, propose some solutions for the thesis question.
