Demands of discipleship in Seventh-day Adventist congregations often cause Hawaiian converts to drop out rather than break their connections with family, culture, and lifestyle. It bases its argument on cultural factors, biblical history and narrative theology.  The study includes these components: 1) understanding evangelism; 2) a biblical perspective on evangelism; 3) building a case for the use of story; 4) story and Hawai'i's multi-cultural people; 5) evangelism approaches in Hawai'i; 6) story: a new paradigm for evangelism; and 7) talk-story evangelism: a practical evangelism approach for Hawai'i. Christianity has a unique theological contribution to individuals at the time of death.  That contribution, centered on the resurrection event, is enhanced when it is presented in forms that are understandable to ethnic people in non-Christian traditions who live in close proximity to one another.
