Questionnaires were sent to 9 Jesuit priests in each of 28 Jesuit colleges in the US, as well as to 6 lay professors and administrators in the same institutions.  Survey results showed markedly low degrees of burnout among the total Jesuit clergy and lay personnel.  Because some psychiatrists have lately treated burnout as an addiction, they found natural medical means ineffective for curing burnout. In the United Church of Christ, the situation is complicatd by an historical no-intrusion policy called autonomy.  This prevents or at least delays any quality intervention.  The author uses his own experience, as well as other resources, to build a workable, creative model of strategies that is offered as a contribution to ministry.  It is at once therapeutic, but suggestive of preventative directions as well. A psychometric tool, the 'Anger Self Report', was adminstered to a population of Texas Panhandle Southern Baptist clergy.  Areas explored included awareness of anger, general expresison of anger, physical expression of anger, verbalization of guilt and anger, condemnation of anger, and mistrust. Interviews with forty-four Homestead Presbyterian pastors and spouses revealed that their marriage relationships were generally healthy, and that where problems arise the causes are seldom from the clergy job or other external forces, but stem principally from internal attitudes and expectations of self and others.  From the studies a manual was written to provide guidance to committees on ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in nurturing and supporting pastors and spouses.
