The author conducts interview testing to discover if attitude shifts occur as a result of the subcommittee's work.  He surveys 62 congregations about their confirmation practices. It reviews relevant historical, biblical and other literature in the field as a background for the project. The study concludes that such persons need to have a valued place in the church.  To determine some of the obstacles to integrating persons with mental retardation into the church, a series of personal interviews are conducted from which twelve major obstacles are identified. Part I examines Reformed theological concepts for military ministry.  It includes interview findings that identify soldier problems and chaplain responses. Part II discusses the theological basis and historical context of the army chaplain's ministry, changes in military technology and the chaplain's current role on the battlefield, and interviews with Vietnam chaplains.
