The writings of Gerard Manley Hopkins, Rainer Maria Rilke, and three modern poets (Machado, Milosz, and Stafford) are then used to illustrate how these poets used their poetry as a form of contemplative prayer. There is a need to identify the link between the ministry of early Christians and the contemporary situation. This project researches, designs, and carries out an experiential adult seminar on sacramental healing ministries. The author discovers that adult experiential education for sacramental healing ministries provides a link between the ministry of Jesus, the early church and the contemporary situation. After defining prayer as a receptive mode of consciousness akin to meditation, prayer is further categorized into three levels: detachment prayer, dialogue prayer and discovery prayer. Each is related to both Christian tradition and the experiences of 'runner-prayer-ers'. Subsequent chapters deal with such subjects as holistic health, auto-hypnosis, the runner's 'high,' journal writing and personality changes. Conclusions reached as a result of this study include the belief that running can be a useful aid in the development of a growing prayer life."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718967567187968,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:42:36.118Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:14:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:48:03Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a3d42ac0-2dc5-4d55-9faf-e653754948fa","accessControl_ssim":["fc5ae5ab-9f85-4d38-93ae-3bc3a815d581"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Threading through the Pentateuch prayerfully"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:14:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:53:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["403ef7b6-355e-4a69-a92e-de08be22b049"],"hasLease_ssim":["5adff856-f757-4684-b426-0013553a78e8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert A McKenzie"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John Shevlin"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Prayer","Bible.
