This work is theological and community-developmental in scope. It describes and critiques parish interaction with a target group of single parents in public housing. Recurring use of four key research questions and survey data is central. A rediscovery of parish identity in relation to poor people was catalysed and informed. Adult Christian education was more focused to local community issues and linked intentionally with social analysis. New coalitions were forged around job-skills brokerage and pastoral care."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719303584415744,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:47:56.569Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:27:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:02:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"03fc8c5d-bba9-42e0-9e18-68380b95caff","accessControl_ssim":["7d994581-ef51-4f91-a3f2-0cad5d580824"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using biblical resources for expanding imagery for God with a Korean feminist perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:27:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:14:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c1a67743-6b78-4cd2-ac62-bcd1b0bfe2e3"],"hasLease_ssim":["13410f65-472c-4088-bc4a-a497db1d2173"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Katharine Doob Sakenfeld"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Man Ja Choi"],"keyword_tesim":["Feminist theology"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Holy Spirit","Image (Theology)","Comparative studies"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation presents the perspective that masculine imagery of God is related to the oppression of women, discovers the fact that patriarchal, masculine God imagery ultimately derives from the dualistic epistemological system of Christianity, and finds new God imagery as a ground for being capable of transcending dualistic thought structures. The dissertation section of the study examines the Lukan perspective of Jesus' mission and ministry, the development of the Baptist movement with particular regard to the contribution by Spurgeon, Carey and Graham and the process of secularization with particular regard to the myth of the Australian secular society. The project section examines in detail the growth and decline of twenty Baptist churches in the urban environment of Australia's largest industrial city. The study revealed that personal religious belief in Australia remains strong but attachment to institutional religious bodies is in decline. Examination of the twenty Newcastle Baptist churches revealed that the majority of growth was borrowed from other churches with little evidence of growth as a result of mission activity.
