The vehicles employed to accomplish this task were a sermon series and an eight-week small group study.  The working hypothesis was that a more informed congregation should result in an attitude of greater acceptance of divorced persons in the congregation and in leadership roles.  The implementation of the project produced statistical data supporting the positive effectiveness of the project. Chapter two reviews the creation of man and woman, as told in Genesis, and offers an interpretation of God's intention for their relationship, which humans have aborted.  Chapter three examines the disciplines of the psychosocial sciences with particular focus on Erikson's life-cycle task for the young adult's struggle to develop from isolation to intimacy.  Chapter four explores the work of Heinz Kohut and Soren Kierkegaard, and Tommy King to propose, in chapter five, a correlational model of grief for Christian young adults who experience divorce. The nine workshops were designed incorporating biblical, sociological and psychological understandings of divorce.  Two test instruments were used in a pretest, post-test model to judge how much participants changed.  Progress toward a goal was judged by the participants' self-ratings.
