The project administers a Congregational Systems Inventory and facilitates discussion about church dynamics. On the basis of that discussion church leaders divide into small groups to compose mission statements defining the mission and purpose of the congregation, and the larger group then reconciles the work done in the small groups to produce a common statement. The project led the deacons to discover their style for managing conflict, identified the types of conflict, examined the nature of church conflict, and presented various strategies which are effective for resolving church conflict.  The theological rationale for conflict ministry included three biblical case studies of conflict, the ministry of the diaconate, and a theology and practice of conflict management.
