The marriage seminar was designed to be biblical in every aspect, avoiding all eclecticism. Chapter 1 introduces the goals, purposes, rationale and limitations of the project. Chapter 2 defines marriage from a biblical perspective and specifies its purposes and parameters. Chapter 3 discusses the problems of idolatry, self-centeredness, sinful communication and unbiblical views of love. The Biblical solutions to these problems are addressed. Chapter 4 is a summary of how this project was conducted. The writer first researched Western models of marriage enrichment and gathered materials which were presented to an indigenous pilot group. This group tested and further developed materials which are culturally sensitive and suitable for use in Fiji.  The results of pre- and post-program evaluation instruments, administered to two marital and two control groups, indicated that the program positively affected the marriages of the participants. The research method employed grounded theory, which is based on observation and moves from specific incident to general principle.  Exegetical study of Genesis 2:18-25 and Ephesians 5:21-33 concluded that God's intent for marriage was an intimate mutual community. An object relations theory study of marriage revealed that the primary human need to be loved and validated motivates marital interaction.
