The author addressed some of the biblical and theological foundations for spiritual warfare throughout Chapters 2 and 3 as they relate to the local church.  He also conducted an examination of Satan, demons and spiritual warfare from both the Old and New Testaments.  The method of study and research focused on numerous biblical commentaries and other theological publications relating to these areas. Expository preaching, interviews, and personal improvement plans form the basis of analysis of the focus group member's prayer lives in the areas of personal prayer life, family prayer life, and corporate prayer life.  Chapter 1 serves as an introduction to the overall thesis of the project for the church.  Special attention is given to contextual an demographic composition of the church along with the goals of the project.  Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundation for approaching the project.  Selections from the Old and New Testaments serve as examples for various kinds of prayer in the Bible.  The theological section examines the role that prayer played in the lives of Calvin and Wesley. Chapter 3 examines the pragmatic or experiential role that prayer has played in the lives of historical and contemporary people of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.  Chapter 4 explains the process used in implementing this project.  Attention was given to sermon summaries, pre and post sermon series questionnaires, and the purpose of the personal improvement plan.  Chapter 5 focuses on analysis and evaluation of data gathered from the research instruments. The project was a test of the 'triangle theory of church growth' which is based upon three interdependent and interrelated principles: spirituality, ministry, preaching/teaching.  These three principles were evaluated by a committee process in relation to selected biblical passages and the ministry context in question.  An outside evaluator analyzed the theory and the committee's work.
