Chapter 1 presents the history and ministry context of Connection Point Church and the goal of this project. Chapter 2 provides an exegesis of three primary passages of Scripture (2 Cor 5:18-21; Eph 4:31–5:2; Matt 18:21-35) to show that every Christian can experience the healing and freedom offered in the gospel and be empowered to extend kindness and forgiveness toward the person who sinned against them. Chapter 3 explores the history of interpersonal forgiveness and demonstrates the unique gospel-centered approach of this project. Chapter 4 describes the project itself, recounting the content and preaching methodology of the specific sermon series and take-home work. Chapter 5 evaluates the project's efficacy based on the completion of the specified goals. Ultimately, this project seeks to equip Christians with a deeper understanding and experience with the gospel so they can heal from the hurt of sins against them, find freedom from an offense, extend kindness and forgiveness toward the person who has hurt them and display the gospel and the glory of God to those around them."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132321506656256,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:01:32.306Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:57:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:06:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a30547f7-775c-4c1a-a14d-d09280e69301","accessControl_ssim":["77b72fda-faa1-45d3-9741-6b1369082866"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Handling conflict as Moses did: a model for pastors facing conflict"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:57:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:52:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a55da5ab-7acd-42d6-afbf-5e5490be7143"],"hasLease_ssim":["d7108c14-677b-4117-842f-7f7e93a38b9b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Joshua E Williams"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gilbert M Allen"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Leadership in the Bible","Conflict management","Bible. This model is based on an exposition of 9 selected Old Testament scriptural texts, in which Moses faced conflict when leading the sons of Israel in the wilderness, using historical-grammatical analysis to determine each passage's meaning. The research revealed a distinct pattern of Moses's response to conflict and universal principles. From these, pastoral applications were drawn that together formed the basis for a contemporary model of 7 priorities to be implemented in a 4 step process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132661111062528,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:06:56.178Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:16:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f03496a7-cd6b-4af9-88bf-05aa110155a8","accessControl_ssim":["1d7d8cdb-861a-4f0a-bdd8-f133084db6b7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church conflict and its resolution in Southern Baptist Korean-American churches in North Texas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:59:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d74aae4f-cad7-440c-893b-917ace005ca9"],"hasLease_ssim":["aa6114c7-7c54-43b0-9b7b-da02b7fa7315"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Penley"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul Taidoo Kim"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Korean Americans--Religion","Asian American churches","Congregations, Baptist","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The goal of this dissertation arose out of the need for conflict resolution in SBKA churches in North Texas. The first two chapters draw an introductory portrait of ministry needs. The next chapter describes six phases of methodology necessary to achieve this goal, followed by a theologically constructed foundation in chapter four. The next two chapters use examples of church conflict found in the New Testament and describe the findings from survey analysis. The remaining chapters conclude with a summation of previous chapters and offers four practical recommendations key to managing church conflict in leadership, communication, trigger issues, and resolution approach."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133253719031808,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:16:21.333Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:25:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:08:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b2d4339f-2450-4a4f-ae32-e747ec7fcfbd","accessControl_ssim":["22105861-151a-4605-b878-29f26fcdd886"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping church leaders to address congregational conflict through an expository preaching class"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:25:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:17:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5e621e5b-0e0d-4194-bfa7-e4ae4413bc31"],"hasLease_ssim":["383bc493-fae6-4209-976d-02176ae9ca67"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Pete Sanchez"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Expository preaching","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project offers a redemptive homiletic strategy for anticipating, addressing, and resolving congregational conflict. Confident in the preemptive power of biblical preaching, the project leader proposes that God's word, faithfully prepared and communicated, is essential to the continuing health of a church's spiritual immune system. The project thus argues for the strategic deployment of biblical texts that sensitize a congregation and her leaders to the inevitability of conflict while equipping them to address conflict redemptively in its early rather than later stages. The project thus proposes to train a new senior pastor and his key leaders in the homiletical skills essential to effective biblical preaching. During this project, the pastor and each leader-participant will be equipped to prepare and present one sermon to their congregation on the subject of biblical admonition, each developed from select biblical texts undergirding this project. Participants will also prepare a second sermon from the following areas of study: God's covenant nature, the priesthood of all believers, an organic view of the Church as community, the Holy Spirit's role in healthy community life, and the Lord's Supper as a strategic window into biblical forgiveness. These sermons further seek to encourage healthy theological reflection accompanied by practical obedience to the texts expressed in a corporate recommitment to the practice of restorative admonition. A church's response to the certainty of human failure within her ranks impacts the credibility of her witness to Christ's forgiveness with those outside the believing community. This proposal thus contends that God's Word faithfully proclaimed can create a local people of God willing to live accountably before the Lord and one another."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132778379608064,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:08:48.014Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:46:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:10:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c5769270-0ed1-44ad-90a3-75ce1fcb7ce8","accessControl_ssim":["b9f11edb-6969-48e6-891f-fc85fea020da"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Avoiding forced termination of pastors: a win-win possibility through polarity management of conflict"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:45:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:48:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e7143ce7-dca5-4060-b8d1-595f2c0ed45f"],"hasLease_ssim":["6bbfae3a-4335-4db9-80da-d38cc21b9ca0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William E Goff"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert A Williamson"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Dismissal of","Congregations--Internal conflict","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project will address the need to minister to pastors who have experienced a forced termination and who are involved, or hope to be involved, in another pastorate. The plan is to begin a healing process with these pastors in such a way that they will see God's strength and love and that they will have viable tools at their disposal for current or future conflict situations. Specifically, the issues of any past conflict situation(s) will be examined. Tools will be offered to manage future conflicts. Information from target pastors who have experienced forced termination(s) will be solicited. During their interviews, these pastors will be asked to identify the circumstances surrounding their particular forced termination(s). After gathering as much information as possible, this project leader will instruct these pastors in three areas: multi-level polarity management of conflicts, conflict information in general, and scriptural helps. Three other aids will be offered. The first is to teach the same information to any group of people in the churches where these pastors serve. The second is to establish a prayer support group for these pastors and their families from other local pastors. The third is to offer to preach a sermon in each church where these pastors serve. The sermon will show Christian harmony and the need for a ministry focus. It is hoped that these aids will start a healing process and provide necessary tools for pastors to avoid future forced terminations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132895338823680,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:10:39.554Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T05:54:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:05:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9b161d2e-7a09-40f7-a475-49cbda7df9f8","accessControl_ssim":["6f15e035-a094-4d31-bf6d-e5484e171c07"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping members of the Moule Baptist Church to implement biblical principles of personal relationships"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T05:54:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:40:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["833b9a4c-657b-43bf-beea-4b5bca0f2885"],"hasLease_ssim":["dda91bc1-b165-45bc-bf79-630123332c5d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ebbie C Smith"],"year_tesim":["1997"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Alvin L Gary"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Conduct of life--Biblical teaching","Congregations","Moule Baptist Church (Guadeloupe, West Indies)","Baptists","Conflict management","Cross-cultural studies"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project responds to a breakdown of personal relations resulting in a breach of fellowship in Moule Baptist Church (Guadeloupe, West Indies) by leading the congregation to understand biblical principles of personal relationships.
