Developing tools and training to help equip wives to be healthier spiritually and emotionally can have potential long-lasting results for the wife herself and her husband, family, ministry, church, community, and world. Equipping pastors’ wives through training in biblical counseling will help pastors’ wives grow spiritually and develop the competence and tools to nurture others spiritually. The purpose of this project was to develop a strategy and framework outline for equipping that can help a pastor’s wife grow in her faith and learn how to give biblical counsel to others, which, in turn, can help others grow in their faith. This growth can have a Kingdom impact, resulting in the multiplication of disciples and disciple-makers and development of spiritual maturity. The three goals of the project were to: (1) develop a strategy to equip Southern Baptist pastors’ wives to counsel biblically; (2) assess competence of wives as counselors before and after the training, as well as to assess the spiritual health of the pastors’ wives before and after completing the training; and (3) use the training in an associational training event or an international trip to train nationals and missionaries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132206797684736,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:59:42.910Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:02:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"81da0c06-8e1a-4191-ab19-f960ecd2ba87","accessControl_ssim":["d0de654a-9896-4210-9a64-4d9451cfc01c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Passing of the torch: effective modeling and instruction in faith to the sons of major Evangelical leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:57:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4d917c30-c680-4186-a3a2-8fbd35bae6bb"],"hasLease_ssim":["e0751e86-0a1f-4615-8992-b007b53739c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven Smith"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Donald J Wyrtram"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Biographies","Evangelicalism","Spiritual formation","Parent and child--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation researches ways in which fathers transmit their personal, Christian faith to their sons. It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. Research conclusions are embodied in twenty principles of biblically, authentic fathers based on the empirical case studies and scripture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132395206868992,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:02:42.592Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:37:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:50:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"17135cd8-9b18-45e7-bf60-abc2c0511838","accessControl_ssim":["38778092-24af-41de-af83-62d6f725e109"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using creative stories to enhance the theological understanding and retention of the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:37:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:48:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b31209a7-cc87-4af0-a8df-5f2c719ff94e"],"hasLease_ssim":["bfd28fae-3b5b-436e-9740-0c0e832164fd"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William E Goff"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Danny L Masters"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Study--Methodology","Beatitudes","Faith development","Spiritual formation","Spiritual life--Christianity","Storytelling--Religious aspects--Christianity","Bible. Over a period of 13 weeks the author presented stories over each beatitude, using pre-tests and post-tests, to measure any changes on the participant that may have been a result of the story's influence. One week after the story the author presented a sermon on the previous beatitude to help underscore the point of the story itself. At the beginning and end of the project, spiritual growth assessment inventories were administered to determine any overall changes in attitude and action. The project proved to be successful, showing positive changes in participants' understanding and incorporating the character traits presented in the Beatitudes."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131612172255232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:50:15.832Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:56:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:13:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"de3db9ed-d878-4df6-acff-35e107de4ef9","accessControl_ssim":["c1fa8464-e558-444d-b827-21ba25f06526"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The practical implications of a theology of the cross: developing a spiritual basis for college students in a college ministry setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:56:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:29:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fc660fe7-d8b2-4412-9bf0-bf17e7179230"],"hasLease_ssim":["19b3a57b-945b-4501-826d-665926fb6a0f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William David Kirkpatrick"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jeffrey T Kennon"],"keyword_tesim":["Campus ministry"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theology of the cross","Sam Houston State University","Students--Religious life","Spiritual formation","Church work with students"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This Doctor of Ministry Project provided a theological basis for the developing spirituality of college students in general and for the college students at Sam Houston State University specifically. This project led students to develop an understanding of a theology of the cross along with its practical implications for their personal lives and for their own ministry opportunities. Since theology is itself a dialogical discipline, a small group of students was enlisted to study together a theology of the cross as well as how they could apply a cruciform theology throughout the Baptist Student Ministry. This project lasted for one semester and attempted to include all of the students that were involved in the Baptist Student Ministry Program. The majority of the work, however, was completed by a smaller, select group of students. A larger group of students were asked to evaluate the testimonies, devotional materials, and sermons prepared by the select group. The challenge for the smaller, select group involved leaching the larger group of students the practical implications of a theology of the cross and to evaluate the program for its spiritual development and a ministry of the Baptist Student Ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133097392078848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:13:52.248Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:20:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:07:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a95ed7ea-9725-4d11-ace7-a04bcd223844","accessControl_ssim":["58d8f6b5-9af9-42d7-9554-ae21eb90eedd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing Shepherd Group Ministry leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:20:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:02:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0608a1d0-4b8a-424e-95a5-1c520b3b6f88"],"hasLease_ssim":["120b6993-a37a-4a64-9e27-bb604d07c46a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William Caldwell"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Leslie C Chaney"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Spiritual formation","Lexington Baptist Church (Corpus Christi, Texas)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The professional project trained Shepherd Group Ministry leaders at Lexington Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
