Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author's purpose was to use creative stories (self-written and/or collected) to illustrate and illuminate the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12 so they might be more easily incorporated and retained in the lives of hearers.  Over a period of 13 weeks the author presented stories over each beatitude, using pre-tests and post-tests, to measure any changes on the participant that may have been a result of the story's influence.  One week after the story the author presented a sermon on the previous beatitude to help underscore the point of the story itself.  At the beginning and end of the project, spiritual growth assessment inventories were administered to determine any overall changes in attitude and action. They learn least and experience the poorest recall from expositional presentations and other literate styles.  Most literate Gospel presenters use expositional presentation formats when presenting the Gospel among oral communicators. This project employs four years of research and use of Chronological Bible Storying in cross-cultural settings by members of the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board.  The project developed and tested a training module during a workshop in England in 1994. The result is that new believers are thrust into the church without a good foundation or they become uninterested in church.  The purpose of this project is to use storying with new believers and seekers.  This project utilizes storying for the teaching of biblical knowledge.  Storying is used among international missionaries attempting to reach people who communicate in an oral tradition. Yet those in visual and written cultures often become uninterested in the gospel when it is taken out of it's narrative context.  The writer measures the students' knowledge of the stories chosen for the project.  The writer then tells a Bible story each week during the project.  The writer allows the students to answer questions, ask questions, and react to the story in small groups. The writer then evaluates the students' understanding of the stories based on the feedback received from the students. The writer intends that storying be used to introduce salvation and discipleship to the students.
