The author considered biblical, theological, and missional issues that arise from explicitly inviting all in a congregation to receive communion without regard to Christian baptism or belief. After surveying several studies of open communion, the author questioned clergy in the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego about their support for or opposition to it.
