The project seeks to establish the veracity of anecdotal comments by pastors that the regular member of the church attends church either two in four to three in four Sundays a month. From there it seeks to determine the reasons this group of believers give for absenteeism and thereafter to respond biblically and pastorally to those reasons. This project studied the participation in and satisfaction with The Moody Church for the various racial groups in congregation. Based upon the biblical foundation for racially diverse local churches, the goal of the project was to increase the involvement of racial minorities throughout the life of the church--including membership, service, and leadership. The research design included a congregational survey, focus group meetings, and the responses of church leadership. Consultations with professors and church leaders both in India and in the US, the proposal, ethnography, and the reporting spanned twenty-six months. Twenty constituents including the youth who left, youth currently attending, parents, and pastors were interviewed along with questionnaires. The findings reveal that the youth left because these congregations have been lacking active ministries. This proposal recommends maintaining requirements which are directly scriptural, and moving present requirements which are mostly historical, social and cultural in origin to the category of special directions (admonitions not required for membership).  The methodological approach involved equipping the elders through training sessions.
