As a result the writer developed and taught the course, 'Towards an evangelical understanding of Roman Catholicism,' covering post-Vatican II theological developments using concepts of adult education. Although evangelicals have serious doctrinal differences with the Catholic Church, this does not rule out cooperation. The course seemed to slightly increase knowledge of the Catholic Church and confidence in sharing the gospel with Catholics. Eleven of these institutions are in North America.  The emergence of spiritual formation offices on each campus is a rather new development.  This project describes and critiques spiritual development programs at four Nazarene universities in North America.  The study explores the interaction between a Wesleyan understanding of sanctification and spiritual formation. Information gathered through open-ended interviews was used to determine what programs were most effective.
