Drawing on data from eighteen research participants, several key lessons were learned about ways church leaders can modify worship services to engage congregants more deeply. Thus while the Igbo naming ceremony makes one an Igbo, the rite of baptism makes one a Christian.  The author analyzed the Anglican rite of baptismal ritual as it is contained in The Book of Common Prayer in the light of Turner's theory of rituals.  He used missional theology as a lens to examine the rite of baptism in the Igbo context of eastern Nigeria.
