The rationale for writing this project is introduced in chapter 1.  Chapter 2 presents a wide-angle view of how the project fits into various essential perspectives in the world Christian movement.  Chapter 3 describes the model and explains its implementation.  The results of the model's implementation are recorded in Chapter 4 as the model's building blocks become manifest. The pastoral profession was explored to explain why the pastor has an advantageous position to influence and teach people through preaching so that one-on-one counseling can be avoided as much as possible.  The Apostle Paul is used as a model to demonstrate how this could be done within a local church. Doctoral classes and library research were combined to create an eight-session class which focused first on intimacy and spiritual intimacy.  The remaining six sessions dealt with the spiritual disciplines of the Word, meditative prayer, simplicity, forgiveness, service and worship. Current missionary activities in Japan are examined.  A survey was conducted on the teaching of missiology in Japanese seminaries.  Both surveys confirmed the need to establish a clearer understanding of evangelical missiology in Japan.  David J Hesselgrave's textbook, Today's choices for tomorrow's mission, is evaluated as being the best choice among missiological texts for Japanese Christians.  The question whether a dynamic equivalent translation is better than a formal translation is discussed. The paper gives a biblical response to such beliefs and practices.  The method includes case studies, interviews, phone calls and personal letters.
