The project arises from the ministry challenges that many Chinese diaspora churches effectively provide theological teaching and communal belonging but often struggle to cultivate believers who embody a reproducible missional identity in everyday life. The project therefore investigates whether Christian coaching can support believers in integrating faith, identity, and mission within their daily contexts.\r\n\r\nGrounded in practical theology and missional discipleship theory, the research employed a participatory action research design and a mixed-methods approach. Six participants from a Chinese-background congregation in Melbourne participated in a three-week intervention consisting of six group Christian coaching sessions. A single-group pre- and post-test design measured perceived changes across three dimensions of missional discipleship: self-awareness in Christ, relational reproducing of discipleship, and radical devotion expressed through costly obedience. Quantitative self-awareness data were complemented by qualitative reflections and written semi-structured exit interviews.\r\n\r\nFindings indicate directional growth across all three dimensions of missional discipleship. Participants reported increased awareness of their identity as “beloved and send” in Christ, a reframing of disciple-making as relational and assessable within everyday relationships, and greater openness to faithful obedience within their cultural and vocational realities. Qualitative data further revealed how these shifts were experienced through relational engagement, vocational discernment, and reflection on cultural barriers to costly obedience.\r\nWhile limited by its small sample size and exploratory design the project suggests that short-term group Christian coaching can function as a formative environment that encourages believers to reinterpret their everyday lives as participation in God’s mission. The project contributes to practical theology by proposing Christian coaching as a contextually responsive approach to cultivating missional discipleship within Chinese Australian diaspora church contexts."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1866642903595483136,"timestamp":"2026-05-30T19:29:55.060Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-05-30T19:08:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-30T19:08:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"95bb00b2-e904-4b6d-840f-6c969142b9c3","accessControl_ssim":["f7c43223-29cc-4de3-84dd-540e6863ce39"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Evaluating the Effectiveness of Encouraging Chinese Christians to Share the Gospel with the Jewish Diaspora Through Mission Education: A Study of Three North Suburban Chicago Chinese Churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-05-30T19:08:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-30T19:08:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cbfd4286-532c-42ea-ab99-c09ec9ae0b25"],"hasLease_ssim":["ef4caf0a-1634-4ec0-86d1-9e91f07c239c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Combining cognitive understanding and practical application, the course is intended to foster missional awareness and cross-cultural competence among first-generation Chinese diaspora Christians. Crucially, the study addresses a common issue in Chinese churches: missions are supported in theory but rarely practiced locally. Using a qualitative methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with pastors and members from three Mandarin-speaking congregations at eighteen, nine, and six months after course completion. The findings showed that the course significantly enhanced participants’\r\nmissional awareness, spiritual transformation, evangelistic involvement, intercessory prayer, and sensitivity toward non-Christians. Many participants also developed a growing burden for the unsaved and became more willing to participate in local outreach activities. However, sustaining these practices depended largely on ongoing pastoral leadership, church support, and continuous ministry opportunities. The study further revealed that the course was less effective at encouraging cross-cultural evangelism due to barriers such as limited confidence in English-language gospel communication, workplace and social constraints, and the Chinese cultural concept of face (mianzi). The study concludes that while mission education can effectively cultivate internal\r\ntransformation and localized missional practice, future curriculum design should more intentionally address linguistic and cultural barriers in order to better equip first-generation Chinese diaspora Christians for sustained cross-cultural engagement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1866641551185149952,"timestamp":"2026-05-30T19:08:25.301Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:11:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:11:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1211b2f8-2e6d-4e4f-999d-9fa176b0b1d7","accessControl_ssim":["c12ba6c9-1807-4126-a490-fb877c087749"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":[" The Missional Church: An Evaluation of How ECWA Members Understand and Participate in the Mission of God and Live Out Their Redemptive Lives "],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:11:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:11:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5355e3e6-8075-4430-9702-3ec648f472f0"],"hasLease_ssim":["ba5ed3a1-a4ef-4dea-b189-3771de3fe038"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Simply having hundreds of missionaries, being actively involved in witnessing, evangelism, and church planting, or maintaining a large mission’s budget does not necessarily make a church missional. In a missional church, every member understands God’s mission, recognizes their role as someone who is sent, and intentionally participates in God’s ongoing work by living out their faith with the purpose of reaching the lost.\r\n\r\nAnother important finding is the common belief that only ministers or those appointed by the church are responsible for missions. Many individuals who strive to live out their faith at home, at work, and in other settings still feel guilty for not fully obeying God’s command in the Great Commission because they have not gone to distant or remote places to preach the gospel. The New Testament concept of the priesthood of all believers is not well understood.\r\nThese challenges are likely present in many churches around the world, not just in Nigeria or Africa. God calls His Church to be missional, so teaching about God’s mission and how to actively participate in it should be a top priority for every church.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1854867927884365824,"timestamp":"2026-01-20T20:11:43.148Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5096671c-abc6-4eae-a8bd-21500a56858d","accessControl_ssim":["5d99dbe8-2181-49c7-8269-b8ac552a74d5"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Impact of Missional Community Adopts a Holistic Approach of \"Body-Mind-Spirit-Communal Relationship\" as a Strategy to Help Addicts Recover, Transform into Christlikeness, and Integrate into the Christian Community and Church Life"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["10f7b925-5481-44ba-9b5f-a6ce0aa8c8a6"],"hasLease_ssim":["a683ccda-f983-439a-92c8-143a5e604661"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This study investigates the potential of a community-based, integrative approach—specifically missional communities (MCs) adopting a holistic body-mind-spirit-communal relationship (BMSC) framework—to\r\nsupport sustainable recovery. Drawing on twenty years of experience in addiction treatment, the researcher examines how MCs facilitate transformation across multiple stages of recovery, helping individuals once deemed incurable develop a renewed identity as disciples of Jesus and\r\nintegrate into Christian communities and church life. The study addresses why many recovering individuals struggle to permanently abandon prior\r\naddictive behaviors, and explores the spiritual, communal, and psychosocial mechanisms that support lasting change. Guided by mixed-methods research, including qualitative interviews and quantitative measures, the study evaluates the impact of BMSC-based MCs on participants’ holistic recovery, participation in Christian communities and church, relationship with God, and commitment to discipleship. The findings aim to produce an evidence-based addiction recovery that provides practical guidance for pastors, counselors, social workers, and helpers, fostering holistic, spiritually grounded transformation and lifelong recovery."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1854867658835492864,"timestamp":"2026-01-20T20:07:26.564Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-04-22T18:30:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-23T13:45:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a40745f5-e579-4bb8-b90f-01818f5c1a51","accessControl_ssim":["95dac829-62f2-4a7b-94fc-8cf610d558c8"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Tipping Point Towards Christ’s Mission Through the Local Church: Leadership Towards a Lay Missional Disciple Making Culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-04-22T18:30:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-23T13:45:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4bddac11-ca8c-4a35-b6df-4deca3558c72"],"hasLease_ssim":["2ad50c23-8d0b-4847-a405-48d672158983"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This project researches and addresses the problem that less than five percent of churches in the United States have a lay disciple making culture. The hypothesis is that a healthy church will have a minimum of thirty percent of its laity actively involved in life-on-life relational disciple making that creates a tipping point in the culture of the church. Key to this study is the idea that Jesus Christ and his method should take priority. For this reason, the title is Christ´s mission through the local church versus the church´s mission about Christ. The research investigates the biblical and theological background to missional disciple making. Literature was investigated regarding missional ecclesiology, sociological findings in connection with disciple making environments, and disciple making training methods. Three case studies of missional disciple making churches were researched. The research investigated questions of training, obstacles, structure, systems, culture, pastoral priorities and vision for lay missional disciple making in the local church. \r\n\r\nThe findings suggest that the local church can achieve the vital work of winning, building, equipping, multiplying and empowering laity to do the Great Commission. To achieve this ministry there must be clear definitions, processes, tracking, metrics, and simple reproducible methods. Significant shifts must take place in many churches to engage, train, and empower laity. When a disciple making culture is achieved there is an unlocking of ministry potential through the local church. When this happens the ministry leaders work can shift allowing for a change from ministry that is mainly seeing addition to multiplication on to movements of ministry. \r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1830201268339998720,"timestamp":"2025-04-23T13:45:43.470Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
