The hypothesis was that a multifaceted revelational homiletic model combining gift awareness and a personal invitation would affect lay activity levels in the local church positively. A spiritual gift inventory, three sermons, and organizational invitations tested this hypothesis. Change was measured quantitatively through a pre/post test and qualitatively through the interview process. A multi-picture PowerPoint presentation was employed, and written surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews measured the response.  The result was a seventy-seven percent positive response, a seventeen percent neutral response, and a six percent negative response. The hypothesis was that the preaching moment as therapy would meet the needs of West Africans. A focus group was designed and implemented to achieve goals for this Model in Ministry. Results of the Model in Ministry indicated significant change in variables. Moreover, the preaching moment met the needs of the multicultural church by creating an environment for guidance, assurance, and sustaining collective acceptance among the congregants. This project shows how the use of present day tools can be a means to win people to Christ. The project began with the premise that the Bible, and the stories of the lives of the people in it, has often been viewed as an authoritative document within the African-American community.  The project lifted up through preaching various biblical family behavior imperfections and showed the 'presence of God,' as an incentive to move listeners beyond their shame and pain toward wholeness, growth and productivity.  The preaching of family sermons, resulted in a desire for more sermons on biblical families.
