The purpose of the research was to develop a five-week, small program to facilitate a healthy grief experience by teaching about the grief process and selected spiritual disciplines to integrate the participants back into the community of the church. Couples using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator [registered symbol] produced a joint spiritual discipline during marital counseling sessions with the pastor.  By practicing this discipline together, would they draw closer to God and to each other?  Focus groups, journals, and surveys showed the couples benefited from their joint spiritual discipline. The project involved a series of workshops that taught people a variety of spiritual exercises and the biblical/theological foundations for spiritual gifts; provided definitions for the gifts of the Spirit listed in Scripture; and, discussed the implications of gifts discovery in the life of the congregation.  The workshop participants answered pre-workshop and post-workshop questionnaires which were analyzed according to the contributions of psychological type theory.
