Laypersons shared their story personally or through the pastor. The stories were shared using video or live as a cohesive introduction binding the sermon together.  Evaluation of the model was based upon a congregational survey, a personal and a group interview with those sharing. The objective of the ministry was to train the laity of the church to do outreach witnessing.  The methodology used was an outreach ministry method of persuasion evangelism that invites others to come to Christ.  The hypothesis was that prayer and outreach witnessing will lead to church growth in the community.  The project has been evaluated through pre-tests, post-tests, survey questionnaires and how-to workshops. The project developed six different models for the telling of: 1) each person's pilgrimage of faith and 2) the Christ story.  The participants experienced each method and selected those sections that applied to their own experience, theology and conversational style.  With these selections each person designed his or her own method of faith-sharing.  The goal was to develop a way of sharing the faith that was natural and comfortable for each person. Lay evangelists were trained to be, do, and tell the gospel of Jesus. They served as the nucleus in the process of transforming the congregation and the broader community to become witnesses. Twenty-four men and women in the department of evangelism at Macedonia United Church of Christ in Raleigh, North Carolina, were trained through workshops, retreats, and a service of one on one witnessing.
