Interviews were carried out with seven clergywomen and twenty-four laywomen. The relationships described were categorized according to models of fathering developed by other researchers. Responses about gender-specific names for God were put together with father-daughter relationship data to see possible patterns. The greatest difference appeared between clergywomen and laywomen. Clergywomen were more discriminating in choosing names for the divinity; laywomen were open to a wider variety of names. Ideas were offered to help churches deal with this time when women hold conflicting attitudes about language."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129845176991744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:22:10.694Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:37:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"27d9b642-f60d-4297-8cef-6575f0144d6a","accessControl_ssim":["de39cf48-79d6-4f08-875b-65dcb903907d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Building positive images in African males through the Sunday school from a black perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:37:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:18:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3f702ce5-f10a-4eb6-a2c6-f9ff14d3d17c"],"hasLease_ssim":["7b5aa703-d0f1-4b8b-9a4f-210e475acf1c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Samuel D Proctor","Otis Moss"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael Ross"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Sunday schools","African American children","Self-esteem","Child psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was designed to build positive images in the mind of African American males whose image is often negative as portrayed by the media in occupation and in the culture. It sought through tutelage to improve the cognitive skills of young African American males. The Sunday school period provided the modus for implementing this module. The methodology was to pair mentors with pupils, teaching Bible-based principles combined with an analysis of successful African American personalities.
