It explores use of narrative theory as a pedagogical approach, a model for theological reflection, and a method for facilitation of group process.  It explores how the framework of narrative and social construction enhances interest generated learning that is technical, practical, and emancipatory (Mezirow's Transformational Learning Theory); learning in relation to thinking, feeling, and behaving (Corey's Group Process Theory); and theological reflection (Tillich and Liberation theorists). Surveys went to clergy, and to inter-denominational families assessing the impact of denominational identity, prevalence, acceptance of inter-denominational families, the influence of congregational size, ministerial attitude, and individual family perceptions. Three findings resulted. First, participating inter-denominational families were long-time or life-time members of their faith communities. Second, inter-denominational families are present in most churches regardless of size or denomination, and they garner spiritual enrichment from all church communities in which they participate.
