No one can hide before death or demonstrate oneself. Hence, it may be more fearful. In the present age, we try to forget the word, death. Christianity, however, has constantly been speaking of beating death, and even more so than victory, it has been talking about the work bearing new fruit through death. The modern church has told such words of salvation but has not accepted into its heart – where a place to accept faith. The author tries to find the following in his ministry setting: the reason why we must think of death, a new perspective of seeing death, experiences facing death, a life of self-denying and carrying one’s cross through participation in death, and the biblical teachings of productive death as a grain of wheat falls into the earth, dies, and bears much fruit.[Note about entry: Abstract submitted to the Atla RIM database on behalf of the author. Even though Nakwon Methodist Church has born so many fruits within recent years, as a lead pastor of this community, I could not set up a good system for equipping lay ministries and did not nurture lay people for our church mission. As the pastor of the historic Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, GA, the author was able to ask the question: can biblical expositional preaching help a multigenerational church steeped in therapeutic culture deal with contemporary issues?  A case study was produced where first the author developed a focus group to develop the contemporary issues that were important to the congregation as well as a survey to identify the top contemporary issues to be highlighted in a sermon series preached at Tabernacle Baptist Church.  After the sermon series, those who participated in the initial survey were asked to participate in a follow-up survey to see if the preaching was helpful in dealing with contemporary issues. The author preached two sermon series in 2008 which examined some of the other moral questions facing Christians, particularly in an election year.  After each sermon series, the author offered opportunities for feedback and further discussion from laity. Yet because transmission of HIV/AIDS often involves forms of sexual contact and/or substance use which are condemned in most Christian communities, and because many persons living with HIV/AIDS have had deeply painful experiences with Christians, prejudice, fear, and pain create a gap between Christians and persons living with HIV/AIDS.  AIDS education within church communities needs to bridge this gap.  This project is a ministry tool in which Christian communities interact with a body of artistic work in order to shift misunderstanding, prejudice, and fear concerning persons living with HIV/AIDS.  The project shows that art can be used to bring about understanding, transformation, and dialogue. The author explored scriptural precedents for coaching relationship:  Moses and Joshua, Naomi and Ruth, and John the Baptist and Jesus; coaching precedents in Christian and Methodist tradition, i.e., the early Church Mothers and John Wesley's relationships to his lay preachers, particularly, the women; a survey of the field in contemporary coaching; and personal experiences in coaching and coach training. The author led an adult class in Christian Education in reading and discussing contemporary plays over a period of eight weeks.  Participants were encouraged through drama to engage personal faith and the community of the church.  Characters in the plays and the plot were integral to the discussion.
