Yet because transmission of HIV/AIDS often involves forms of sexual contact and/or substance use which are condemned in most Christian communities, and because many persons living with HIV/AIDS have had deeply painful experiences with Christians, prejudice, fear, and pain create a gap between Christians and persons living with HIV/AIDS. AIDS education within church communities needs to bridge this gap. This project is a ministry tool in which Christian communities interact with a body of artistic work in order to shift misunderstanding, prejudice, and fear concerning persons living with HIV/AIDS. The project shows that art can be used to bring about understanding, transformation, and dialogue. The study addressed the emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of children and adolescents with cancer as well as the historical ad contemporary uses of the labyrinth. Five cancer patients were enrolled in the project with their assent and the consent of their parents. The project demonstrated that finger labyrinths provided a container for expressing emotions, dealing with the anxiety of life-limiting illness, and finding hope for the future."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126874236125184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:34:57.384Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:00:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:47:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"529aa335-843e-442d-9a57-350ea48ac308","accessControl_ssim":["94446838-de92-4ca6-b0e3-948c769b222f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The psychodynamics of pastoral conversations in a general hospital setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:00:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:33:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["468937b0-a374-4626-a569-31c4063b9b93"],"hasLease_ssim":["1f3e19fe-80a1-47de-bc40-14bb26fb2229"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Earl Hubert Furgeson"],"year_tesim":["1973"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The disease is examined in the context of a theological anthropology based on process theology. The alcoholic responds to the call to wholeness in the radical, healing relationship of prayer. The project explores 1) the role of spiritual values in the recovery of alcoholics in a 28-day residential treatment program, and 2) the comparative length of sobriety reported after three months. The results are: 1) the experimental group showed increases in spiritual consciousness and practice; 2) the control group showed no significant level of difference in spiritual practice at t2 or t3 point although this group showed significant change in spiritual consciousness at both points when compared with t1; 3) the experimental group reported a longer length of sobriety. The implications of the study include: the need for spiritual ministry for alcoholics in recovery; the value of treating the person as a whole; the minister has a role on the health care team as a fellow professional."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717410656223232,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:17:51.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:43:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:18:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3c5ac33a-564f-4b08-81ae-747f20574c20","accessControl_ssim":["2e3c5c45-d95f-4ae3-86ce-115033c7dc9b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Faith journey: a method of teaching Bible study to long-term care residents diagnosed with mid-stage Alzheimer's Disease"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:43:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:52:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fdff53a3-6a33-4fba-aef3-be01e9739090"],"hasLease_ssim":["297becae-2f7d-4adc-a189-b4ecfadc0e69"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Carroll Saussy"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
