Western culture's bias toward objectivity casts aspersion on the subjective evidences of a pastor's call. How well that transition takes place depends on the preparation for it. This dissertation project argues that there are attitudes and perspectives about church leadership that if they are in place and being lived out will make a leadership transition in a local church as seamless as possible. This study highlights the most often faced biblical and cultural issues in Chinese churches. The author interviewed 13 of the largest Chinese churches in the San Francisco Bay area to discover their candidating process.  As a result, key principles and a ministry model were developed to clarify these issues.
