Data collected, questionnare and interviews all revealed the common theme of church leaders incorporating core spiritual disciplines into their lives. Western culture's bias toward objectivity casts aspersion on the subjective evidences of a pastor's call. Changes in the Roman Catholic Church since Vatican II demand ministry based on both of these essentials. A spiritual director reflects prayerfully on the Word of God, finds words to express and respond to it, and models methods of entry into contemplation and compassion by establishing a dialogue.
