An historical methodology was used for understanding The Gospel Association of India churches perspectives on discipleship. Focus groups and personal interview methodology were used to understand the perspectives on Christian discipleship among Christians in The Gospel Association of India.I explored the many themes that provided the basis of discipleship in the Old and New Testaments. God’s people in the Old Testament underwent discipleship with God as their teacher and Israel as the disciple through God’s covenant, God’s election, and encountering God collectively and individually. The New Testament provides an abundant basis for discipleship. We can become true disciples by following Jesus, being obedient to his teaching. With the aid of the Holy Spirit, we can be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, which is the goal of discipleship.As the original disciples impacted their world by following their master, Christians in The Gospel Association of India can impact their world by living as true disciples of Jesus Christ. The future of our churches and society will be decided on how we care and raise them up as responsible, God-fearing individuals in the present time. Our world is getting smaller with the passing of time. It has become a global village where every crazy thing going on around can be felt in an instant with the media culture getting hold of every nook and corner of many young minds. Immorality has become an accepted norm; sexual assaults have become an uncommon part of daily news, broken homes in every corner of the streets, divorce due to infidelity of spouses, the list goes on. These are not new phenomena anymore, and the church has become a silent witness to many of these abominations.Sadly, many of these problems are related to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and mismanagement of human sexuality. Nepalese society has her share of issues related to all these happenings as well. Therefore, with a concern to heal as well as protect the young people who will be our future from becoming degraded human beings, and the zeal to raise them to be Christ-like disciples, following His ways in living holy and acceptable lives before God and man, I devoted my time and energy to explore and research as to how to benefit them. Christianity surged in the area unprecedentedly, following various miracles and healings. As persecution increased, the church grew, and the reason was the relentless prayer and faithfulness of the children of God. This is an encouraging example to all the suffering Christians in India and throughout the globe. In the face of severe persecution and other internal and external challenges facing the church in Arunachal Pradesh, it is absolutely vital that pastors, leaders and believers in churches be strengthened and rooted in the Word of God, effectively to bring growth in order to have biblically sound congregations. The series of Inductive Bible Study will empower Christians to withstand these challenges with the power of the Holy Spirit.A workshop “How to Study the Bible Effectively” was conducted in the Pasighat of East Siang District, A.P. The study facilitated learning tools to interpret the Bible inductively, to explore means to conduct an in-depth study especially in mission fields where literary resources are not readily available. The purpose of this study was to develop and sharpen the theological understanding for enrichment in biblical studies and to provide opportunity for ministry enhancement to pastors, evangelists and lay leaders in the SAF Mt Carmel Prayer Center, Pasighat, East Siang district. I loved creating spaces where I felt comfortable, safe, and able to invite friends to visit. As an adult, finding a true sense of home in this life through being transformed, renewed, and restored is my goal, and furthermore, to accept God’s invitation to participate in His Master Story of renewal and restoration in order to bring others home, too.The journey of transformation is to be understood as something sublime and beautiful, fulfilling Jesus’ words that He has “come that you might have life to the full” (John 10:10). However, this journey can be particularly bumpy for those of us whose sense of home has been broken.In this thesis I pursue answers to the questions: i) How do we find a true sense of home in this life? and ii) How do we continue to live when we are there? Then, through finding answers to these questions, I pursue the answer to my research question, iii) How do we create a sense of home from home for ourselves and for others in our Christian family/community/church?The journey of transformation, the solution to the problem of brokenness, may be bumpy yet it is worth it, because it is our journey home. Home is where we are comfortable, safe, and able to invite friends and family to visit. We cannot journey alone, nor are we expected to do so. The proposed program included hands-on learning that facilitated change in the culture of the current leadership approach while addressing some adaptive and transformational leadership skills for enrichment in performing ministry tasks. The purpose of the program was to produce matured, effective, confident, committed, and able men and women in shepherding God’s flock while creating the knowledge necessary to develop and implement an educational leadership training program. This leadership program was designed to provide the opportunity for educational development for current leaders to prepare those seeking entry into ministry in the Church of God of Prophecy, Mid-Atlantic Region. Thus, pastors and bishops from the Church of God of Prophecy, Mid-Atlantic Region were surveyed and interviewed regarding the knowledge and skills that would be beneficial to future leadership training programs. Results of the survey indicated a need to improve the existing practices of leaders in the region. Participants defined a need to improve on learning new things and implementing them in the region. Results of the interviews revealed that (1) church leaders prepared for the role through learning formally and informally, (2) church leaders prepared for the role through prioritizing service, and (3) leadership qualities could be nurtured depending on the individual. The themes indicated that continuous and effective systems were in place to provide training and guidance for pastors and young aspiring ministers in preparation for effective ministry engagement. The Campesinos encounter numerous struggles that go beyond the poverty of living standards, food, and education. This study will address a specific problem within the communities of Campesinos. Namely, the lack of spiritual leadership and guidance by clergy and laypersons within the church.My methodology includes the development of an educational program that will enable churches to understand the plight of the Campesinos through bible study, testimonials, watching selected portions of videos, singing, and sharing fellowship Campesino meals. All with the purpose of stirring the church’s heart to action and leading them to a hands-on ministry with the migrant agricultural farm workers.It is my hope that the United Methodist Church will reach out to the Campesinos to help them discover that Christ is walking next to them in the crop rows and drinking with them from the irrigation ditches. I believe in the beauty manifested through God’s love. The same love that can allow us to see that we are all the same.
