This thesis proposes a vital part of the answer to this problem by presenting a biblical model of addiction and ministry to the addicted. The author points out the flaws in 12-step groups and provides an alternative which is biblical in its approach. This alternative is called Higher Ground, a local church-sponsored, Christ-centered support group for the addicted and the family.  The author presents a history of this ministry, shows how it implements biblical principles and evaluates the effectiveness of this ministry with statistics and case studies.
