The objective was to develop a strategy that balanced the grace of Jesus with the truth of his gospel, to express love to all while holding to biblical convictions. Based upon a strategy planning model, this project contained four phases. Initially, I surveyed the First Baptist Church congregation to define the target audience and discover the church culture relative to issues of sexual identity. The objective of the second phase was to determine best practices by exploring existing models of sexual-identity ministry. The information from the first two steps then informed the development of a sexual-identity family ministry strategy for First Baptist Church, including the selection and training of a strategy planning team who designed the ministry strategy. To conclude the project, I presented the completed ministry strategy to the First Baptist Church staff, who unanimously agreed to integrate the strategy into the church’s discipleship ministry. In \r\nconjunction with the implementation of this project, I also sought to increase both my knowledge of sexual-identity issues and my skill in strategy planning."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"_version_":1799716478229938176,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:03:02.100Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-01-30T20:45:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:49:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9f2fd9a7-829d-4d99-a1b8-a0bcae216b08","accessControl_ssim":["33ea063b-3321-4ab6-bf17-c21e8a81d564"],"depositor_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Members of First Baptist Church, Trumann, Arkansas, with Fundamental Spiritual Leadership Competencies"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-01-30T20:45:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:47:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["78b5f73b-b97f-455e-ade3-6e86f9ee99f5"],"hasLease_ssim":["fb0778db-7e91-4f45-9e44-3982b5fe39c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2023"],"location_tesim":["Arkansas"],"resource_type_tesim":["Abstract"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Maley, John"],"subject_tesim":["Baptist Church","Leadership-Religious aspects"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this DMin project was to equip selected members of First Baptist Church of Trumann, Arkansas, with fundamental spiritual leadership competencies. After researching related biblical texts, existing models of deacon training, and selected resources in the field of study, the project director produced a curriculum for equipping deacons. Research in the field of study revealed a consensus for six basic deacon ministry competencies: benevolence, conflict resolution, evangelism, family ministry, ordinances, and partnering with the pastor.
