This had never happened before in the church’s history, and it all began during a recent sermon series in the book of Acts. Deliverance has since become an expected phenomenon that the church leadership prepares for every week now. This Doctor of Ministry project sought to examine how to effectively bring together the ministry of deliverance along with the ministry of Biblical Counseling (intensive discipleship) to help those who have been set free maintain their freedom and live the Spirit-filled life. This involved a three-step process: (1) An initial interview to determine the direction of the intervention, (2) three fifty-minute biblical counseling sessions over a period of twenty-one days during which relevant action items were assigned, and (3) a final interview to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. Qualitative research was done through analyzing the final interview data. Some\r\nmajor findings within the twenty-one day period included that an exceeding majority of participants (90%) experienced freedom from bondage to struggles related to former demonic strongholds prior to their deliverance, and following through on action items (especially in actively forgiving others) had a strong correlation with a sense of overall spiritual growth. The research was conclusive that this twenty-one day process is a feasible and effective program for\r\nthose delivered from demonic strongholds, to jumpstart them into a larger discipleship process. It can be logically deduced that it should also be applicable to ministering to anyone who may be caught in the throes of battling the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil (cf. Ephesians 2:1-3). Because this was a qualitative study, the findings cannot be generalized.\r\nFurther studies in different contexts are recommended to help determine transferability."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1831039331023716352,"timestamp":"2025-05-02T19:46:22.326Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-12-12T16:04:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:47:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"20bdf2c8-e90f-4511-b1f0-96b4ee9a2f3e","accessControl_ssim":["0d7c9caf-a3c7-4ed4-8dcf-d7dc2cfe16cb"],"depositor_ssim":["roger.peters@ctsfw.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["roger.peters@ctsfw.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Place and Purpose of Spiritual Gifts In the Scripture: The Understanding of the EECMY-IBS Congregations in Mettu and Alge Towns"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-12-12T16:04:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:06:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["84c87936-bfc4-4fba-901c-42877bae0eb4"],"hasLease_ssim":["c8902836-0b36-4c4a-a488-2a6685f21a37"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gifford Grobien"],"committee_member_tesim":["John Pless","Martin Noland"],"year_tesim":["2019"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The devil, on the other hand, always works against this permanent truth through his false teachings that human beings would seek and use other alternate means and standards respectively to approach God and examine faith and practice.\r\nAs the teaching and practices of the Prosperity Gospel that undermines the primacy of the Word of God and the importance of the Holy Sacraments are spreading in the working areas of the EECMY-IBS, the researcher conducted this study to give awareness about the danger coming into our congregations with this false teaching.\r\nTo conduct the study, the researcher used questionnaires, which were completed by thirty-nine participants that were recruited from six congregations of the synod to gather viable data. Further, he involved three notetakers who assisted him in taking notes during and after the presentations offered to the participants and the sermons delivered in two congregations. The participants and the notetakers have also participated in analyzing and interpreting data.\r\nThe believers of the area theoretically believe in the authority and primacy of the Word of God and the importance of the Sacraments. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, it was recognized that ecclesial practices like role limitations, gender-based ministry, and forced identities contribute to experiences of exclusion, shame, and potentially gender incongruence. The failure of church leaders to recognize and eliminate these practices leads to the estrangement of women from the church and from God. Rigid gender normativity and the false association of non-stereotypical gender behaviors with the morality of sexuality prevents the church from being a community pointed toward God with its doors open to all those seeking refuge. Ecclesiastical essentialism is proposed as a transformative model that allows men and women to fully engage in the life of the church today without concern for unyielding gender binaries, serving the church as God intended when male and female were created in the image of God. According to secular and Christian research, church attendance is declining along with adherence to the teaching and application of Scripture. Statistical analysis of both Christian and secular research, demographic, and crime data confirm the researcher’s hypothesis that the urban churches of Philadelphia need a curriculum for missional engagement. Model Studies of two other ministry schools were also conducted and critiqued to glean from each institution’s experience. The research, literature review, and model studies were used to determine the best approach to perhaps produce supernatural results in the community. This applied research project examines the impact of a missional engagement curriculum designed for laypersons within a Philadelphia urban church, on the fivefold ministry gifts, also referred to by the writer as the five apportioned gifts of Christ. Scripture and other Christian literature were carefully examined to ensure understanding and acceptance of the gifts for today in the body of Christ. The students were taught how to function in their gift as part of a fivefold gift ministry team and complete a ministry project at the end of the semester."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127159703601152,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:39:29.627Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:24:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:40:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"592344c6-af70-4f32-b9c8-96ac577f1415","accessControl_ssim":["1c9d4b0f-ea8e-4a2a-8b03-91fc7801f4aa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Youth Ministry Planning Tool for Smaller Churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:24:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:44:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a9ec2eea-c0ef-4437-b6dd-c48180205b98"],"hasLease_ssim":["8886417a-de62-48d8-9c3e-c795cc572fe0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Pastoral ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard Chromey Ph.D.","Mark Senter III Ph.D.","William Donahue Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The planning tool was especially designed to guide volunteer-led teams of smaller churches through the planning process in a systematic and complete way by recognizing the strengths and limitations of smaller churches and volunteer leaders. The main deliverables of the step-by-step planning process were to evaluate existing programming, divide the leadership team according to gifting, and to develop a set of guiding documents, including a directory, programming calendar, weekly template with job descriptions, and teaching schedule.Five smaller evangelical churches were given the tool prior to planning their programming. Interviewing leaders from these youth ministry teams revealed that the tool was helpful in each church, especially for evaluating the success of programming objectives and generating ideas of changes to make. However, the step-by-step process did not allow teams to easily select which components they wished to use and was difficult to adapt for solo-led youth ministries. Furthermore, some ministries and leaders resisted implementing the systems-approach, especially formal job descriptions, in their smaller, family-style ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718815815172096,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:40:11.396Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:32:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:45:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"69892e56-59e7-4641-8faa-05a0f3ac4518","accessControl_ssim":["bb84c287-0727-4a5c-be60-46b5227c0a1d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A training model: discovering the spiritual gifts in pastors to grow healthy congregations in the Capitol District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church - Washington Conference"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:32:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:13:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["459cd9d1-ad65-4bec-8a4f-b79b243ffc6b"],"hasLease_ssim":["0f388c29-3c1c-408b-b43e-bc952268fb29"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James M Shopshire"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
