In it, adolescence was explored as a unique and necessary developmental style which must occasion some conflict, hopefully healthy, between parent and child.  However, too often adolescence becomes more traumatic than necessary unless steps are taken to prepare for it. 'Tools' for evaluating that premise included: critical reviews by participants and observers, certain elements of black theology, and a Christian transformist's view of culture.
